The Holy Spirit is our comforter!

“And I will ask the Father, and He will give you another [a]Helper (Comforter, Advocate, Intercessor—Counselor, Strengthener, Standby), to be with you forever— 17 the Spirit of Truth, whom the world cannot receive [and take to its heart] because it does not see Him or know Him, but you know Him because He (the Holy Spirit) remains with you continually and will be in you.” John 14: 16-17 Amp.

In the Greek language, there are three words that are translated by one the one word “comfort.”  It is PAREGORIA. As a verb the word means “to address, exhort, to console, comfort, appease, soothe.” I remember when my children were infants there was a medicine called Paregoric. It was given to infants as a sedative. It was intended to soothe and quiet them. This is what the Holy Spirit does for us. He soothes, comforts and consoles us in our time of unrest and need.

Another aspect of comfort is this. It is the kind of comfort and consolation that when in distress keeps a person on their feet, when left to themselves would collapse. It is a comfort called in to a situation where a person by themselves cannot cope. In other words, the Holy Spirit soothes and quiets us to where we can begin to respond with noble thoughts of the Word of God and begin to speak them over our unrest and distress.

The Holy Spirit will anoint you and give you all you can drink of Him to fullness of overflowing. There is nothing to fear or be anxious about because we have the Comforter, the Holy Spirit.

Let the Holy Spirit become your delicious feast. Remain full of Him at all times, so you are continually overflowing.
