“And I will ask the Father, and He will give you another Helper (Comforter, Advocate, Intercessor, Counselor, Strengthener, Standby), to be with you forever—  the Spirit of Truth, whom the world cannot receive [and take to its heart] because it does not see Him or know Him, but you know Him because He (the Holy Spirit) remains with you continually and will be in you.” John 14:16 (AMP)

In John 14:26 it says, “But the Helper (Comforter, Advocate, Intercessor, Counselor, Strengthener, Standby), the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name [in My place, to represent Me and act on My behalf], He will teach you all things. And He will help you remember everything that I have told you.”

First and foremost, the Holy Spirit is the action behind the Father’s will. Let us begin in Genesis. “In the beginning God created [by forming from nothing] the heavens and the earth.  The earth was formless and void or a waste and emptiness, and darkness was upon the face of the deep [primeval ocean that covered the unformed earth]. The Spirit of God was moving (hovering, brooding) over the face of the waters.” Genesis 1:1-2 (AMP)

The Holy Spirit was active in all the creation. He exercised the power of God and the Son in the creation. In other words, He was the power that moved as God spoke His will. Romans 8:11 tells us He exercised the power of God at the redemption when He raised Jesus from the dead. He is the source of the power by which sinners come to Christ and see with new eyes of faith. He is within us, yet He does not focus on Himself. The Holy Spirit shows us Christ, the one through whom all life is seen in a new light. We see by revelation of the Holy Spirit that Jesus is our savior, redeemer, deliverer, righteousness, peace… He is our everything.

The Gospel of John records the Holy Spirit as the power by which Christians develop their faith and understand their walk with the Lord.

The Holy Spirit is the action behind the Father’s will.

It very important that we know the Holy Spirit so that He can continually lead and guide us in the Father’s will for our lives.
